Leasing Horses

Definition

Each 4-H Horse member must submit a Horse ID form for each horse on which that member may compete during the 4-H year.  If member is not the owner of that horse, then the horse is a "leased" horse.  QC4-H does not supply horses for lease, but the Project can help find such horses for interested members.

Options

There are two options for leasing a horse, as explained in the 4-H Horse Rulebook and in the leasing instructions:

1) The Member is using a horse which belongs to someone outside of 4-H, or

2) the Member is sharing a horse with another member of 4-H.

Forms

See the 4-H Horse Rulebook for definitions and further details regarding leasing of horses, and the Maricopa County Brochure "Horse Sharing Between Non-Family Beginner and Itnermediate 4-H Members".    The forms needed to be submitted are as follows:

  • Maricopa County 4-H Horse Project Lease Agreement.   This is needed for both types (1) and (2) above.

  • Maricopa County 4-H Horse Program Shared Horse Contract.   This is needed only for type (2) above.
